enDYNA: Real-time Simulation of Combustion Engines

enDYNA is a professional software tool for the real-time simulation of internal combustion engines during the complete development process of electronic control units.

enDYNA basic is a professional software package for the real-time simulation of internal combustion engines.

Applications range from model-based function development and tests of engine control devices through to integration tests in a virtual vehicle and pre-calibration at hardware-in-the-loop simulators.

 

For sophisticated testing scenarios, enDYNA engine models provide various possibilities of malfunction simulation. The high model accuracy and good parameterization quality of the enDYNA Preprocessing tool allow precise and reliable statements to be made about the behavior of controllers and trouble-free operation.

 

Our open and modular model architecture implemented in a Matlab/Simulink environment allows easy and straightforward incorporation of your controller algorithms or models of user-specific components. You can make use of the full Matlab/Simulink functionality for simulation control and postprocessing of results. The implementation of typical driving maneuvers (e. g. driving cycles) is supported by open and ready-to-use example scripts and tables.

 

We offer enDYNA basic in five versions:

  • enDYNA basic SI Package: Simulation of naturally-aspirated spark-ignition engines with intake-manifold injection.
  • enDYNA basic SITC Package: Simulation of turbocharged spark-ignition engines with intake-manifold injection.
  • enDYNA basic FDI Package: Simulation of naturally-aspirated spark-ignition engines with direct fuel injection.
  • enDYNA basic FDITC Package: Simulation of turbocharged spark-ignition engines with direct fuel injection.
  • enDYNA basic CRTD Package: Simulation of turbocharged diesel engines with a common rail system or unit injectors.

 

 

enDYNA Themos is a professional software package for the real-time simulation of internal combustion engines.

With its thermodynamic models of the gas path and calculation of the combustion process, enDYNA Themos offers a previously unmatched level of detail in the field of real-time capable engine models. The high accuracy constitutes a crucial add-on for the testing and development of electronic controllers for modern diesel and gasoline engines, e. g. when sensing the crank angle-resolved cylinder pressure.

 

A physical model of the combustion process and gas dynamics allows for effects of variable valve lift and timing, multiple injections, exhaust gas recirculation and boost pressure control as well as exhaust gas aftertreatment.

 

The excellent model accuracy and the high parameterization quality of the enDYNA Preprocessing tool allow precise and reliable statements to be made about the behavior of controllers during ECU testing and development. A very good ECU pre-calibration can already be performed at the simulator, thus saving time and money for field tests with the real engine.

All models are fully implemented in Matlab/Simulink. By using a standard simulation environment for model-based design and rapid controller prototyping, we continuously support the development process of controllers from proof-of-concept studies (model-in-the-loop) to verification in hardware-in-the-loop tests. Incorporation of your in-house component models is fast and straightforward. The open and modular architecture makes our models very flexible. Complex supercharging concepts, such as two-stage turbocharging and mechanically or electrically supported turbocharging, can easily be configured.

 

We offer enDYNA Themos in two versions:

  • enDYNA Themos CRTD: Simulation of turbocharged diesel engines with a common rail system or unit injectors. Including exhaust systems with oxidation catalytic converters and particulate filters.
  • enDYNA Themos SITC: Simulation of turbocharged spark-ignition engines with intake-manifold fuel injection and fully variable valve train. Including Exhaust System Advanced.
